The headline in the news today was that Tiger Woods was taking a leave of absence from Golf to sort out his family problems. I don't know why that's news because there's no major golf tournaments for another couple of months. Unfortunately this looks like another feeble attempt by Tiger Woods to control the media.

This is a cry by Tiger Woods that he is no longer a golfer... that he's a family man and this is completely a family matter. All of his life Tiger has been able to control the media around him but on this occasion it's not the national media that's driving this story and it's this new media that giving Tiger fits.

The New Media

Call it what you will but sites like TMZ and Deadspin have been right way more times then they've been wrong and lately they've been kicking the national medias butt on breaking stories. While the national media was trying to decide on whether or not they should run these stories on Tiger, TMZ was posting like hourly updates.

Tiger Woods has been able to strong arm every other form of media around him since he came on the scene because the price for crossing him was no access to the most popular and best golfer in the world. But sites like TMZ and other celeb Blogs they don't want or care about access all they want is the hot story that everybody's talking about and Tiger Woods is the flavor of the month.

By my last count Tiger Woods was up to 13 women he was working on the side and you want to know what the absolutely phenomenal thing about this all is? His wife, 'ol what's her name, she's gonna stick it out with Tiger because she came from a broken home and she doens't want to put their kids through that... the fact that she's going to be paid millions to stand by Tiger and act like his wife has nothing to do with it I'm sure.

And absolutely that's what you want your kids to learn. You want them to learn that it's ok to cheat on your wife so long as you pay her and make modifications to the pre nup. Invaluable lessons there.

The whole thing is just kind of sick really but at the end of the day I don't even blame Tiger. If Tiger made a mistake I think he made a mistake getting married. It's hard enough being married but when you're married and you're Tiger Woods I imagine that's pretty tough.  I think any normal male would do the same thing... that's just too much temptation to have to deal with.

The crazy thing with Tiger is obviously the number of women that are coming out and I believe that's why the sponsors are starting to drop like flies. Just today Gilette announced that they would start to phase Tiger out...

I feel for Tiger because I do feel this is a personal situation but what he needs to understand is that we live in a crazy society that is crazed about tearing people down. I mean people just eat this stuff up and keep asking for more.

Tiger needs to stop blaming the media and just own the fact that he never should've gotten married. When you're banging 13 chicks on the side you have no plan on being faithful so why front with a marriage other then it's the type of image you need to sell products.

I can't wait to see him play again if he ever decides to come out of hiding...
